1 Player profiles

When the app launches, the "Who's playing today?" screen is displayed. MateMatt supports up to 5 profiles on the same device, perfect for families with multiple children or for classrooms.

How it works

• Create a profile: tap "New player", choose an animal avatar (bear, panda, dolphin...) and a nickname.
• Select a profile: tap the desired avatar (it highlights with a border), then press Next.
• Delete a profile: long-press on the avatar for a few seconds.

2 Home screen

The Home screen shows 5 main sections, each with a different colour:

In the top-right corner you will find three icons: switch profile (avatar), audio on/off and help.

3 Learn (Guided lessons)

"Learn" offers two modes:

• Lessons: a structured path from Grade I to Grade V (or the equivalent for UK, US, ES), organised by increasing difficulty. Each lesson has a specific learning objective.
• Learn on your own: choose the operation and level you prefer, with all hints enabled so you can practise stress-free.

How to read a lesson

Each lesson in the list shows:

• Number and title (e.g. "Grade I - Addition L1")
• Description (e.g. "Numbers up to 10 - mental calculation")
• Exercises and bonus: how many exercises it contains and how many bonus extras
• Lesson rewards: MatCoin earned (gold for all correct, silver for up to 3 errors, bronze for 4+ errors)
• Active hints: green dots indicate which hints are enabled (suggestions, highlights, solution available, auto-check)

Press Start to begin or Details to read the lesson's learning objective.

Available operations

4 Training

Training is the free practice mode: the child chooses which operation to practise and at what difficulty level.

Unlike "Learn", hints are reduced here: no automatic suggestions, no visible solution. The child tests themselves independently.

Available operations

• Addition — choose the number of digits (1-4) and the level
• Subtraction — with or without borrowing
• Multiplication — column multiplication, choose the digits
• Division — step-by-step, with 1 or 2-digit divisors
• Times tables — all available modes
• Count the money — recognise and add up euro coins and banknotes

5 Homework

From the Home screen, the child accesses the Homework section to complete homework assigned by a parent.

Homework can arrive in two ways:

• Local homework: created on the same device by the parent (Parents Area → Create homework)
• Remote homework: received via an alphanumeric code or through the Family group

When the child opens a homework assignment, the exercises start automatically with the settings chosen by the parent (operation type, difficulty, enabled hints). When finished, the results are saved in the Report.

Notification badges on the Homework button

When the parent creates homework and assigns it through the Family group, notification badges appear on the "Homework archive" button:

6 Recess

Recess is the reward area: fun mini-games that the child can unlock by spending the MatCoin earned through exercises.

7 Parents Area

The Parents Area is the control panel for adults. It contains:

• Reports — view exercise results
• Create homework — create personalised homework
• Homework archive — find and relaunch saved homework
• Family — manage the multi-device family group
• Settings — language, PIN, privacy

8 Reports and results

Every time the child completes an exercise session, the results are automatically saved in a report.

Exercise outcomes

Each exercise in the report shows an outcome indicator:

Indicator	Meaning
✅ Correct	The exercise was completed without errors.
⚠️ Completed with errors	The child completed the exercise but made one or more errors before finding the correct answer.
❌ Needs review	The exercise was not completed (too many errors or abandoned).

What the report shows

• Exercise count: total, correct, with errors, to review
• Exercise detail: operation, operands, incorrect attempts
• Error analysis: the system identifies patterns (carrying errors, borrowing errors, quotient errors, remainder errors) and provides targeted suggestions
• PDF export: you can export the report as a PDF to share with the teacher

Report analysis

The Report Analysis section provides a complete overview of the child's progress:

• Trend over time: chart showing the percentage of correct answers on the first attempt, filterable by 30 days, 90 days or all time
• Weekly activity: visual map of sessions completed day by day
• Exercise distribution: pie chart showing the breakdown by operation
• Error rate by operation: quickly identifies where the child struggles most
• Times tables detail: success rate for each times table and mastery per number
• Operations to revise: list of the most frequent wrong answers with the correct answer

Local reports vs Group reports

• Local reports: exercises completed on this device
• Group reports: results synced from family group members (admin only)

9 Create homework

The homework generator lets you create personalised exercises for your child, choosing every detail.

Exercise types

Options for each exercise

• Random or manual: generate random exercises or enter the exact numbers yourself
• Quantity and repetitions: how many exercises and how many times to repeat each one
• Hints: enable/disable suggestions, highlights, visible solution, auto-check

Save and share

• Start Homework: the child starts immediately on the same device
• Save local homework: save to the archive for reuse
• Save remote homework: generate an alphanumeric code to share (requires the Family feature)

10 Family

The Family feature connects multiple devices in a family group, allowing the parent (admin) to assign homework and view results from their own phone.

How it works

1. The parent creates the group by pressing "Create group". A unique code is generated (format AAAA-AAAA-AAAA).
2. The child joins by entering the code on their device in "Join group". An access request is sent.
3. The parent approves the request from their device. At this point the member officially joins the group.
4. From that moment on, homework created by the admin is automatically sent to group members, and results are sent back to the admin.

PIN and family group

When the admin sets a parental PIN, it is automatically propagated to all group members:

• If the member already had their own PIN, it is saved as a backup before being replaced by the group PIN.
• The group PIN is mandatory for all members: they cannot modify or remove it.
• When a member leaves the group (or the group is closed), their original PIN is automatically restored from the backup. If the member did not have a PIN before joining, the PIN is removed.
• The admin can exempt individual members from the PIN requirement through the exemption list.

11 Parental PIN

The 4-digit PIN protects sections reserved for adults, preventing children from accessing:

• Reports
• Homework generator
• Code archive
• Family section

How to activate it

1. Go to Parents Area → Settings
2. Press "Enable PIN"
3. Enter a 4-digit PIN and confirm it

Unlock and security

• After entering the correct PIN, the area stays unlocked for 5 minutes
• After 3 incorrect attempts: temporary lockout (5 sec, then 15 sec, then 30 sec)
• Forgot your PIN? Tap "Forgot your PIN?" and solve 2 "adult-level" math challenges (square root and percentage) to reset it

PIN and family group

If you are part of a family group, the PIN is managed centrally by the admin (see Family section):

• When the admin sets or changes the PIN, it is synced in real time to all member devices.
• The member's PIN is first saved as a backup, then replaced by the group PIN.
• When leaving the group, the member's original PIN is automatically restored.

12 Settings and privacy

Language and curriculum

MateMatt automatically adapts to the device language, but you can change it manually in Settings. Each language corresponds to a different curriculum:

Privacy and consent

MateMatt is designed with children's privacy as the top priority:

• Zero ads — no banners, no videos, ever
• Zero tracking — no behavioural data collected
• Anonymous profiles — just a nickname and an animal, no email or real name required
• Optional crash reporting — disabled by default, only activated with your consent
• Encrypted family — cloud sync uses AES-256, data is unreadable even to the server
